The advantage of a drop shot rig is its ability to indefinitely suspend a bait off the bottom into a fishs strike zone or a tight fishing location. For this reason, it is a highly effective rig to use with the bait being presented very naturally and almost perfectly parallel, like a stationery fish, to the bottom which many predators find irresistible.
